Two and a half years after
Hurricane Ike, you can still plainly see how Ike washed across the
Bolivar Peninsula and and into Rollover Bay.

The strong current through Rollover Pass is
still carrying hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of sand from
Peninsula beaches into Rollover Bay and the GIWW where it is lost to
the beaches forever. The General Land Office needs to get on with
permission to close Rollover Pass while there is still some sand left
on the Peninsula.

Rollover Pass after Hurricane Carla (1961) Note
that Hurricane Carla made landfall about 130 miles southwest of
Rollover Pass. It was a huge storm.
