This photo shows the delta that is building from Mitchell's Cut into East Matagorda Bay.

Note that the channel swings to the south in the direction of the dominant littoral drift. It looks like only small boats can pass as there is a breaking bar across the channel entrance. The waves are very small, so that bar is probably shallow, or it would not be breaking. The second photo taken on 6/28/10 shows less breaking, navigation should proceed with extreme caution.
